CBC India, part of the CBC Group has a presence in a number of different fields and continues to add new business areas. CBC India was incorporated in 2008 and today has businesses in the fields of Pharmaceuticals (the entire value chain), Agrochemicals, Chemical Materials including Specialty Chemicals, Electroplating Chemicals, Security Cameras, Lenses, Medical Devices, Dental products (incl a Dental Lab), Lab Grown Diamonds and Products for the Automobile/Steel Industry. We import products into India, export products from India including Toll Manufacturing and Custom Development by continuing to add value to our customers and suppliers. CBC India also has a dedicated New Business Development (NBD) division which is responsible for carrying out market research and identifying new opportunities in various fields including investments. This is in line with our global philosophy of Innovation - Enter a Different World.
While the global pharma business continues to be a key driver, CBC has made investments in the fields of Pharmaceuticals, Agrochemicals, Natural extracts/Nutraceuticals, Specialty Chemicals and Medical Devices in India. Besides these, there are several areas which have been identified as New Business Initiatives and the CBC Group has made investments in this space in India viz. Medical Devices, Last Mile Logistics, Trading platform (aggregator) for Industrial products, Semiconductor chip development and EV Batteries. We continue to look for opportunities in and from India.
In the last few years, CBC India has localized its operations in line with the thinking of CBC Japan. Local Indian people have been integrated into the company as part of these localization efforts. Today, CBC India hires fresh professionals from top universities and experienced professionals from top companies. Japanese staff comes to India for assignments and Indian staff is sent to Japan for the same. India as a country has been growing rapidly and CBC wants to play a role in the Indian growth story. The areas of focus for CBC in India have been clearly identified based on the strengths of Indian manufacturing, scientific research talent, the rising middle class, increasing disposable incomes, the increasing focus on health and the need for good quality products. Our mPIE vision will drive us to grow further. The mPIE vision stands for our focus on manufacturing in India, our pan-India presence, investments in India and exports from India.
Indian and Japanese cultures are very different so a continuous challenge is to manage expectations on both sides. This requires a lot of handholding of staff (both in Japan and in India) and also continuous interaction with offices in Japan and Worldwide. CBC India has been fortunate enough to be able to do this because of the open-mindedness of CBC Japan and the continuous efforts of the Japanese & Indian staff. This is an ongoing process and we have to work diligently towards achieving it. There are lots of challenges but then there are also lots of opportunities. Our challenge is to maintain the Japanese philosophy and work on the Indian strengths since this will help us keep our unique position and develop a Niche. We want to be the go-to company when an Indian company wants to cooperate with Japan or when a Japanese company wants to come to India. In some areas we have succeeded and in some areas we are working hard to succeed.
