CBC Italian subsidiary reached its 34th year of activity in 2022. The operation started with the Optical/Video business, distributing computar® lenses and Ganz® branded videoequipment. It then developed further in several fields including pheromones and biological control products for agriculture, medical devices, and fine chemical intermediates. Today, its main activity is the development, production, and distribution of biological plant protection products for professional agriculture. This project, started in the early ‘90s with the market development and distribution of pheromones from the Japanese manufacturer ShinEtsu Chemical. It evolved in 2012 with the merger of the Italian company Intrachem Bio Italia Spa, which led us to create a dedicated Agro business division under the brand BIOGARD® . The Agro business has a fully integrated organization, with the main operation and logistics center based in Grassobbio, located is 50 km north-east of Milan near Bergamo, an R&D and technical support center in Cesena, south East of Bologna, that is also a GEP certified trial facility and a network of more than 40 specialists covering the whole country. The BIOGARD® Div. is ISO9001 certified and currently holds about 160 products registrations. The BIOGARD® products range is sold in Italy and the other main countries of Europe through a network of national distributors and retailers as well as CBC subsidiaries. In 2015, we established a dedicated French subsidiary, CBC Biogard France, to better serve the local Agro market and particularly the winegrowing sector. With the same purpose in 2019 was established the Biogard Greece subsidiary following the acquisition of Intrachem Hellas business. Besides the strong development of the agriculture business, our subsidiary maintained its trading activity through the Chemical Div.’s liaison with other CBC operations in Japan, China, Europe, and USA for fine chemicals intermediates and pharmaceutical ingredients as well as the distribution of optical/video products for security/industrial applications and medical devices for flexible endoscope reprocessing through the Electronics Division. A recent further involvement of this business unit is the development of new products and applications based on IT/Electronics and Video for agriculture. The successful integration of know-how in both areas has already achieved the development of unique new products that boosted our sales in the new field of Agro-electronics.
At CBC Italy, we aim to grow in a sustainable way and with long terms commitment. At the same time, we fully join the company philosophy of shared prosperity and enjoy working as a team in a nice atmosphere. Our future challenge will be to keep filling our business pipeline with enough new projects having a good mix of short, medium and long-term targets that can maintain or improve our growth. Cross-cooperation and knowledge transfer between business units supported by efficient customer services must be at the top of our priorities while a key factor will be the continuous improvement of our organization through specific training aimed at fostering excellent human resources.
